Who runs the site?

Bulker-Freight-Distance is operated by topporation. Questions or requests about your data can be sent to bfd@topporation.com.

What do we keep?

• Your name, email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
• Your chosen ports and result when a distance calculation succeeds.
• Your calculator inputs and result when a freight estimate succeeds, so an old estimate can be checked later.
• Your username, the time of the calculation and your IP address when it is available.
• Short-lived technical records used to protect forms and limit repeated activation-email requests.

A rejected form is not saved as a calculation.

Why do we use it?

To create and protect your account, run the calculators, explain earlier results, prevent abuse and keep the service working.

Cookies and files loaded by your browser

Django uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and a CSRF cookie to protect forms. Both are necessary for the account features and are marked Secure in production.

Pages also download fonts from Google Fonts and interface files from jsDelivr. Those providers receive ordinary request information such as your IP address and browser headers, but we do not send them your account details or calculator inputs.

Who helps us run the service?

• Our hosting provider stores and serves the application data.
• Mailgun receives your email address and activation-email content when we send account email.
• Google Fonts and jsDelivr serve the public browser files described above.
• Price-data providers answer server-to-server requests that contain no account or calculator data.

We do not sell personal data.

How long, and what can you do?

Account and successful-calculation records are currently kept while the service operates so results remain explainable. Activation cooldowns expire automatically. You can change your name and password on your account page.

Email bfd@topporation.com to ask what data is associated with your account, correct it or request deletion. We will respond according to the law that applies to the request.
